Hey Reader
Have you watched Louis Theroux’s Inside the Manosphere documentary yet?
If you haven’t, put it on your list. And if you have, I imagine you’re feeling something similar to what Ben and I felt watching it: a mixture of shock, fury, heartbreak and a genuine knot in your stomach.
But what struck me most wasn’t the men on the screen. It wasn’t the rage bait or the crypto schemes or the one-way monogamy. It was the realisation that every single one of those men was a lost boy. A boy who grew up without a dad, was given everything by his mum and nothing in the way of a healthy male role model. A boy who never learned what respect looked like because nobody stuck around long enough to show him.
And now those boys are grown men with millions of followers, telling the next generation that if life isn’t working out, it’s women’s fault.
57% of Gen Z men believe promoting women’s equality has gone so far it now discriminates against men. And 62% want the country to go back to the way it used to be. When women couldn’t vote, couldn’t work, couldn’t own property. Had no rights. Let that sink in.
This week’s episode is one of the most important conversations we’ve had. We unpack the documentary, the stats, and what we think is really driving this. Because getting angry at the Manosphere isn’t enough. We have to understand how we got here if we’ve got any chance of protecting our children from it.
Whether you have sons, daughters, nephews, or you’re just a parent trying to make sense of the world your kids are growing up in, please listen. And please share it with someone who needs to hear it.
With love,
Nichole & Ben
P.S. Send this to the dads. The brothers. The uncles. The men in your life who care. This is not a women’s issue. It’s a parenting issue. And the men in our lives need to be part of the conversation, not watching from the sidelines.
